Poem #4
.
the tide runs quickly up the
beach
up it swirls around my ankles
and feet.
through the canals of the sand
does it breech
in the water rushes, swallowing
its treat
.
it slows and stops, and finally
recedes
it speeds back through the
canals, pushing at the sides
back toward the ocean it goes
as a giant stampede
nothing is soft as water, but
nothing can beat its tide
